Frequently asked questions
How is Writing Studio different from ChatGPT?
ChatGPT doesn't know what's in your reading list and starts from a blank slate every time. Writing Studio drafts alongside the PDFs and papers you've actually uploaded or connected through Zotero and Mendeley, writes inline as you go instead of back-and-forth chat, and every citation traces back to a real passage in your library with a confidence score, not something the model is recalling from memory.
Does Writing Studio keep my work original?
Yes. It helps you research and draft faster, but the argument and the prose stay yours. An AI declaration feature marks exactly which parts of your draft came from AI assistance, so you always have a clear, honest picture of your own work, no guessing, no gray areas.
How do you make sure citations aren't made up?
Every citation links back to an actual passage in a source that's in your library, never to something the AI is recalling from memory. Highlight any claim and it pulls the exact passage that source uses to support it, along with a confidence score for how well that source actually backs up what you wrote. If nothing in your library supports the claim, it gets flagged instead of quietly cited, so you catch a missing source before your professor does.
What citation styles does it support?
APA, MLA, Chicago, Harvard, and most other styles your school is likely to require. You can switch styles at any point without reformatting anything by hand.
Is my library and my work kept private?
Your sources, drafts, and library are private to you by default, sharing only happens if you invite someone as an editor. Send me the actual data retention and training policy and I'll lock this to that.
Is there a free plan?
Yes. You can research, write, and cite on the free plan with no credit card required. Paid plans add more AI actions per month and unlimited uploads once you're using it regularly.
