Framer
Connect Framer with an API key, add posts to your CMS collection and publish your site automatically.
New to Writing Studio? See what it does for your Framer blog.Writing Studio adds each post to your Framer CMS collection, then publishes your site so it goes live.
What you need
- A Framer project with a blog collection that has a Formatted Text field for the body
- A CMS page for that collection (like
/blog/:slug), so posts show on your site - An API key for the project
Make an API key
- In your Framer project, open Site settings › General › API keys.
- Create a key and copy it.
Connect
- In Writing Studio, open Integrations and choose Framer.
- Paste your project URL (like
https://framer.com/projects/…) and the API key, and choose Connect. - Pick your blog collection.
- Optionally, set the Blog path (like
/blog), the path of the collection's page, so links to your posts are right.
What gets published
Writing Studio fills the fields your collection has, matched by type and name:
- The title and slug, and the full article in the body
- When your collection has them: a summary, cover image (with its alt text), date, meta title and meta description
- The FAQ and the sources the article cites, at the end of the body
- Links to your own pages
When a post is refreshed, the same CMS item is updated at the same address.
Publishing your site
After adding a post, Writing Studio publishes your Framer site so the post goes live. Framer publishes the whole site at once, so any other unpublished changes in the project go live too. You can turn automatic site publishing off and publish from Framer yourself.
If posts don't show on your site
Posts need a CMS page for the blog collection. Without one they're saved in your CMS but aren't on your site yet, and Writing Studio tells you so. Add a CMS page for the collection in Framer.
If a post fails to publish later, see Publishing for how retries work.
