Make

Send each post to a Make scenario with a custom webhook, and on to Notion, HubSpot, Wix or any Make app.

Each post starts your Make scenario, to send it on to Notion, HubSpot, Wix, WordPress.com, Google Docs, Airtable, Slack or any other app Make connects to.

Custom webhooks are on every Make plan, the free one included. Each post uses an operation for each module in your scenario.

Connect

  1. In Make, Create a new scenario. Add the Webhooks app's Custom webhook trigger, click Add, name it (say "Writing Studio") and save.
  2. Copy the address it shows (it starts https://hook. and ends make.com/…, with your region in between, like hook.eu1.make.com).
  3. In Writing Studio, open your site's page, Connect › Make, paste the address and connect.
  4. Make shows "Successfully determined" on the webhook: the sample post sent when you connected has set up its fields.
  5. Add your next module and map the fields into it. Turn the scenario on, and set it to run Immediately as data arrives.

The fields

FieldWhat it is
eventpost.published for a new post, post.updated for a refreshed or edited one, ping for the sample sent when you connect
idEmpty for a new post; on an update, the id your scenario answered with, or else the slug
post.title, post.slugThe title, and the slug for its address
post.htmlThe whole article as HTML, with its FAQ and sources
post.excerptA one or two sentence summary
post.metaTitle, post.metaDescriptionFor the page's title tag and meta description
post.image.url, post.image.altThe featured image and its alt text
post.author, post.publishedAtThe byline and the publish date (ISO 8601)

New posts and refreshes

The sample sent when you connect arrives as a real request, so put a filter after the webhook (event equal to post.published) to keep it out of your app. To update posts when they're refreshed too, use a Router: one route for post.published that creates the post, one for post.updated that updates it.

Linking back

End the scenario with Webhooks › Webhook response, status 200 and a body like {"id": "{{the new item's id}}", "url": "{{its address}}"}. Writing Studio then links the article to it, and updates carry that id. Without one, the slug is used.

When Make doesn't answer

Each request is tried again if Make is busy or doesn't answer, then after 5 minutes, 30 minutes and 2 hours. If a post still can't be sent, we email you. While a scenario is off, Make keeps what arrives in the webhook's queue and runs it when you turn it back on.

Requests are signed like any webhook, if a module of yours wants to check them.
