Zapier
Send each post to a Zap with Webhooks by Zapier, and on to Notion, HubSpot, Wix or any Zapier app.
Each post starts your Zap, to send it on to Notion, HubSpot, Wix, Squarespace, Google Docs, Airtable, Slack or any other app Zapier connects to.
Webhooks by Zapier is a premium Zapier app, so it needs a paid Zapier plan. Each post uses a task for each action in your Zap.
Connect
- In Zapier, Create › Zap. For the trigger, choose Webhooks by Zapier and the event Catch Hook. Leave "Pick off a child key" empty and continue.
- Copy the webhook URL it shows (it starts
https://hooks.zapier.com/hooks/catch/). - In Writing Studio, open your site's page, Connect › Zapier, paste the URL and connect.
- Back in Zapier, Test trigger. It finds the sample post sent when you connected, with every field filled in.
- Add your action (Notion › Create Database Item, HubSpot › Create Blog Post, Google Docs › Create Document from Text, and so on) and map the fields into it. Publish the Zap.
The fields
Zapier shows them with spaces and capitals, like this:
| Field | What it is |
|---|---|
| Event | post.published for a new post, post.updated for a refreshed or edited one, ping for the sample sent when you connect |
| ID | Empty for a new post; the post's slug on an update |
| Post Title, Post Slug | The title, and the slug for its address |
| Post Html | The whole article as HTML, with its FAQ and sources |
| Post Excerpt | A one or two sentence summary |
| Post Meta Title, Post Meta Description | For the page's title tag and meta description |
| Post Image Url, Post Image Alt | The featured image and its alt text |
| Post Author, Post Published At | The byline and the publish date (ISO 8601) |
New posts and refreshes
The sample sent when you connect arrives as a real request, so add a Filter step (only continue if event exactly matches post.published) to keep it out of your app. To update posts when they're refreshed too, use Paths: one for post.published that creates the post, one for post.updated that finds it by its slug and updates it.
When Zapier doesn't answer
Each request is tried again if Zapier is busy or doesn't answer, then after 5 minutes, 30 minutes and 2 hours. If a post still can't be sent, we email you. If posts don't show up, check that the Zap is on and look at its history.
Requests are signed like any webhook, if a step of yours wants to check them.
