New to Writing Studio? See what it does for your Webflow blog.Writing Studio adds each post to your Webflow blog collection through Webflow's Data API, live, with its image in your site's Assets.
What you need
- A Webflow site with a blog collection (most blog templates work as they are)
- A site API token with CMS read and write and Assets read and write
Make a site API token
- In Webflow, open your site's Site settings › Apps & integrations › API access.
- Choose Generate API token, give it a name like "Writing Studio", and set CMS and Assets to read and write.
- Copy the token.
Connect
- In Writing Studio, open Integrations and choose Webflow.
- Paste the site API token and choose Connect.
- Pick your blog collection.
What gets published
Writing Studio fills the fields your collection already has, matched by type and name:
- The name and slug, and the full article in the rich text body
- When your collection has them: a summary, the main image (with its alt text), meta title, meta description and publish date
- The FAQ and the sources the article cites, at the end of the rich text body
- Links to your own pages
Items are created live, so the post is on your site straight away. When a post is refreshed, the same collection item is updated at the same address.
If something's missing
- A field stays empty: check your collection has a field of that kind (for example an image field for the main image). Fields Writing Studio can't match are left alone.
- It can't upload images: the token needs Assets read and write. Make a new token with both and connect again.
If a post fails to publish later, see Publishing for how retries work.
