What Home and each site's page show: clicks from Google, searches close to page one, and what each article brought in.

With Google Search Console connected, Writing Studio shows what your site and its articles bring in from Google. The numbers come from Search Console and run about three days behind, as Google's own reports do.

On Home

  • Close to page one: up to three searches you already show up for at positions 5 to 20, under the box where you ask for a post. Choose one to write about it.
  • Results: the articles that brought in the most, with their clicks in the last 28 days and the change against the 28 days before.
  • Search Console: your whole site's clicks in the last 28 days (and the change against the month before), impressions and click rate, average position, and how many searches are near page one. Under them, clicks a day over the last 90 days.

On a site's page

Open a site from Sites in the sidebar. Overview has more:

  • Highlights: clicks, impressions, average position, searches near page one, questions people ask, and the pages Writing Studio found on your site.
  • Results: up to five articles, and the client report (below).
  • Search traffic: clicks a day.
  • Top pages: your five pages with the most clicks, with their average position.

The Searches tab lists every search close to page one and every question people ask, with impressions, clicks and position. Those are the topics a focused post can move up, and the ones your plan starts from.

What each article brought in

An article shows under Results 14 days after it goes live (or is refreshed), once Google has numbers for it. Each row has its clicks in the last 28 days and the change against the 28 days before, biggest gain first.

Until then the card says Nothing live yet (nothing published) or Too soon to tell (published less than 14 days ago).

Writing Studio matches an article to its numbers by its live address. If you publish by hand, the address it went out at may not be known; publishing through an integration keeps it.

When the numbers update

Writing Studio fetches new numbers when you connect Search Console or change the property, each time it plans, and when you choose Refresh numbers on the site's page. You can refresh a few times a day (6 on Free, 30 on a paid plan).

Client reports

On the Agency plan, the Results card on a site's page has Make a link: a read-only page for your client with the site's numbers, what each article did, what was published in the last 30 days and what's coming next. Copy link to send it, Turn off to stop it working. Making a new link stops the old one. See Team and client reports.

No numbers?

  • No numbers yet: Search Console isn't connected. See Google Search Console.
  • Sample data: the site uses sample numbers, so you can see how it looks. Connect Search Console for yours; sample numbers never feed your plan.
  • A new site: Search Console can take a few days to start counting a newly added property, and a few weeks before there's much to show.
